A selection of my more recent media art practice laid out on a Cargo Site page!
I have been using the WordPress platform for years to host my website and showcase my work. But I find the new-ish interface really tricky for image-based layout. It’s almost as bad as trying to lay out images and text in a Word document. You know what I mean. You move something just a smidge, and the whole thing shifts down and off the page. Or it overlaps with something else. Don’t get me wrong, it’s great for blogging. Perhaps this is an opportunity for me to get more active on my blog and share my thoughts and updates?
One new exciting update is that with the opportunity to try out CargoSite I was able to revamp my website. It didn’t take me long to get used to the interface and it is so creative to work with. I’m able to showcase my media art practice in a way that is more in line with what I do. I can place images anywhere on the page. And I love that I am able to create buttons that are draggable. Maybe I overdid it a bit, though? What do you think?
I am still keeping the WordPress for my blog and as a list of my professional film sound design work. But I moved the info page about my current work in progress, “Reasons to Scream!” It just seemed more intuitive to host it there alongside my current research topics. You’ll still find the page for my personal experimental documentary about my grandmother’s story as a forced labourer here. “Learning to Milk a Cow.” As well as the preview links for the entire long-form film, both in English and German. This is simply to keep the links the same as they were.
I am happy to hear your feedback on my new portfolio page for my media art work. Please drop me a comment or send me a message through the cargo site page. Thank you!
